A dining table that encourages intergenerational bonding
through shared meals and play. "Thread" refers both to its 
rope-based construction and the connections formed around 
it. Movable ceramic trivets invite families to collaboratively 
set the table, turning mealtime preparation into 
part of the experience.

The ceramic trivets evolved as a way to embed interaction into the act of setting the table. Their repositionable nature allows different configurations depending on the meal, turning a functional requirement into a moment of engagement. Colour was a key driver throughout development, with primary tones used to establish a clear and playful visual system.

The assembly system was designed to be intuitive and physically engaging, using threaded rope and flexible joints to bring the structure together. This process draws on the familiarity of children’s furniture and play equipment, where assembly is often visible, simple, and part of the experience. The result is a system that feels approachable and encourages participation from the outset.
